# Lydian Developer Documentation

Lydian lets you accept cryptocurrency payments at checkout. Your customer pays in a supported asset (for example USDT on Ethereum), Lydian confirms the payment on-chain, and your merchant account is settled — without you handling wallets, gas, or exchange rates yourself.

## How a payment works

Every Lydian payment follows the same high-level flow:

1. **Create a Session** — your backend opens a payment [Session](https://developer.lydian.com/api/session.md) for a specific amount.
2. **Collect the payment** — the customer completes payment through Lydian checkout (hosted or embedded), choosing their asset and network.
3. **Confirm on-chain** — Lydian creates and tracks a [Transaction](https://developer.lydian.com/api/transaction.md) and confirms it on the blockchain.
4. **Get notified** — you confirm the final status by polling the API or receiving a webhook.

## Ways to integrate

- **Hosted Checkout (recommended)** — your backend creates a Session and sends the customer to the Lydian-hosted checkout URL returned as `qrData`. The least code to get started. See [Accept Your First Payment](https://developer.lydian.com/guides/accept-a-payment.md).
- **Embedded Web Checkout** — drop the `<lydian-checkout>` element onto your own page with the Web SDK to keep customers on your site. See [Web Checkout](https://developer.lydian.com/guides/web-checkout.md) and the [Web SDK](https://developer.lydian.com/sdks/web.md).
- **Work directly with the API** — every endpoint, request, and response is documented in the [API Reference](https://developer.lydian.com/api/session.md).
